When Celeste was 12, she dreamed of becoming a pro BMX rider. While life took her in a different direction, that passion for bikes never faded. Today, she gets to live out that childhood dream in a new way by encouraging others to get moving whether it’s on a bike, scooter, patamobile, or even a one-wheeler. Celeste is passionate about breaking down barriers to access so that everyone can experience the freedom, confidence, and joy that comes with active transportation.

Born and raised in Watsonville, Kymberly “Kym” Lacrosse has dedicated her career to empowering youth, strengthening community connections, and creating opportunities for healthier, more equitable communities.

Through her collaboration with Ecology Action and the ¡Adelante Watsonville! initiative, Kym brings a community-centered approach to advancing accessible transportation, bicycle education, health, and wellness. She is passionate about ensuring that Watsonville residents are not simply recipients of programs but active partners in shaping their community’s future.

I live and work in Watsonville, CA. I love to share with community members about different transportation options because we all deserve to be able to travel around in our community. As a bus user myself, I notice how we all have different needs and priorities and access to reliable and accessible transportation is essential! I hope we can all get to the places we need to go and to the places that we have yet to visit.

His passion for transportation comes from seeing how safe sidewalks, good lighting, and accessible options can make a real difference in people’s everyday lives. For Eloy, creating better ways to get around means creating healthier, more connected communities, where people have more time for what matters and greater access to the people, places, and opportunities that help them thrive.

Hi, I’m Daniel — a husband, dad, and adventurer who’s lived in a few places around the nation and world. Being multiracial and multilingual, I’ve had the privilege of living in different cultures, learning multiple languages, and seeing how community can be shaped by the way we move through our streets.

I love the outdoors and believe that once people experience the joy of being active outside, they’re more open to lifestyle changes that help protect the planet. When I’m not promoting safe streets, you’ll find me at the beach, exploring trails with my family, pedaling around town, or enjoying live music.

What I enjoy most about my role at Ecology Action is working in the Watsonville community and helping spread awareness about active transportation safety for both older adults and youth. One of my favorite parts of the job is seeing the positive impact we make through our community group rides. It’s especially rewarding to watch older adults get outside, try something new like riding an e-bike, and build their skills while practicing safe riding on our streets. Being able to support healthier, more active lifestyles while strengthening community connections makes my work meaningful and fulfilling.

I was born and raised in Watsonville, California, where sports, community, and being active outdoors played a major role in shaping who I am. After earning my Bachelor’s degree in Communications and later a Master’s degree in Education and Sports Administration, I spent six years coaching collegiate football in several states across the country. Coaching reinforced my passion for helping people grow, overcome challenges, and reach their potential.

Today, I bring that same passion to my work in active transportation. As a lifelong athlete and dedicated practitioner of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), I have experienced firsthand how movement and physical activity can positively impact a person’s health, confidence, and quality of life. I am grateful for the opportunity to help create safer, healthier, and more accessible communities where people of all ages can walk, bike, and stay active.

Whether riding on quite country roads as a tween, getting to my afterschool job in high school, or taking our toddler on a meandering ride to the playground or a local open space, bikes have long been a tool for fun, freedom, and exploration for me. The most rewarding part of my work is knowing I can make a difference and serve the communities I myself used to grow up it. I love educating and encouraging adults to safely ride their bikes and to have fun while doing it. Choosing to ride our bikes is my favorite mode of active transportation because it’s so fun and is a simple way to make a difference for a healthy planet!
